We are an interwoven group of people, products, skills and services, that operate on a global scale from our home turf in Canterbury, New Zealand and Tasmania, Australia.

Midlands Seed Incorporated
Midlands Seed was founded, laying the foundation for high-quality seed production and agricultural expertise in New Zealand.
1990
Midlands Holdings Incorporated
Midlands Holdings was established to provide a central structure for managing and growing the company’s expanding portfolio of businesses.
1997
Midlands Seed Farming Incorporated
This new entity formalised the farming operations, ensuring greater control and consistency across seed cultivation and production.
2002
Midland Properties Incorporated
Midlands Properties was incorporated to manage the company’s real estate and land assets, supporting long-term growth and operational stability.

Midlands Holdings Acquires 50% of Midlands Nutritional Oil
Midlands Holdings took a strategic stake in Midlands Nutritional Oil (formerly Oil Seed Extractions), expanding its presence in the oils and specialty nutrition market.

Midlands Contracting Incorporated
Midlands Contracting was established to provide expert agricultural contracting services, precision farming support, and operational excellence to growers.
2004
Midlands Seed (Tasmania) Incorporated
A new Tasmanian base was created, enabling counter-season production and access to international seed markets.

Midlands Secures 100% Ownership of Midlands Nutritional Oils
Midlands Holdings took a strategic stake in Midlands Nutritional Oil (formerly Oil Seed Extractions), expanding its presence in the oils and specialty nutrition market.

Midlands Apiaries Established
Through the acquisition of Symes Apiaries, Midlands expanded into honey production, combining beekeeping expertise with premium product development.
2006
Pure Oils New Zealand Incorporated
Midlands Holdings acquired a 30% stake in Pure Oils, supporting its growing focus on high-quality, nutritionally optimised oils for local and international markets.
2012
Kaipak Incorporated
Midlands Holdings took a 50% stake in Kaipak, further expanding its presence in food production and ingredient supply chains.
2016
Midlands Bees Incorporated
Operations previously managed under Midlands Apiaries were separated into Midlands Bees, allowing a dedicated focus on beekeeping and pollination services.
2017
Midlands Nutritional Oils Expands to Midlands Nutrition
The business expanded its core focus from oils to a broader range of nutritional products, reflecting growth into plant-based superfoods and specialty nutrition.
2020
Midlands Properties Wanaka Incorporated
Midlands strengthened its property portfolio with the incorporation of Midlands Properties Wanaka, supporting future production and operational expansion.
2021
Ōmakō Ridge Property Purchased
Midlands acquired Ōmakō Ridge in Central Otago to further develop seed production capabilities, ensuring access to premium growing conditions and long-term agricultural sustainability.

Research & Development is the backbone of our company.
From the company's beginning, one of its main priorities has been a focus on research to help secure the futures of both the company and their farmer clientele. As a result, the company now has extensive research and breeding programmes to support and encourage the development of seed production, including high value hybrid vegetable seed and herbage seed, and arable foods for identifiable markets.
