Golden linseed and brown linseed are very similar. However, there are small differences in taste and nutrition. Golden linseed tends to have a more subtle flavour which is slightly sweet and buttery, whereas brown linseed is bolder, more nutty flavour.

Nutritionally, the differences are very small, and even within different crops, nutritional profiles of brown and golden linseed can cross over. Brown linseed may have less polyunsaturated fats, and more monounsaturated fat and antioxidants.
