Research is a key component of Midlands Nutrition business. From the company’s beginning, one of its main priorities has been a focus on research to help secure the futures of both the company and their supply partners. As a result the company now has extensive research and development programmes to support and encourage the development of specialty oils and oilseed products in New Zealand

Our team has extensive product knowledge and understanding and are constantly looking for new products, uses and delivery solutions. We continually monitor global consumer trends, to discover the latest in packaging solutions and product category demand.
Our In-house Food Technologist gives you support to create and develop products to your specifications. Providing better understanding of nutritional profiles and best uses. We operate further research on fatty acid profiling for optimal nutrition and shelf life and stability testing to maximise the quality of products delivered.
We evaluate each specialty oil to ensure nutritional quality of each batch. By breaking down the dietary components they are able to assess the nutritional benefit and fatty acid profile for customers optimum health. Specialty oils research also invests in ways to improve the nutritional profile of their products and how to increase stability and shelf life.
Growing Better Raw Materials
Research is a key component of Midlands business. As a result, the company now has extensive research and development programmes to support and encourage the development of the New Zealand and Australian Arable sector. This includes research relating to our existing products, as well as an extensive product development programme targeting high quality niche opportunities.
Our in-house Research team and research farm Barneswood, set the standard for raw material quality, investing, and developing new technologies to produce the best seeds creating superior products. We have developed 'Best Management Practices' for crops and continue to seek new and improved ways to improve quality and nutritional content of the seed. Our dedicated research team work on the development of all areas of specialty oil research, from before planting the seed to extracting specialty oils, implementing new technologies and strategies to ensure that they are producing the worlds best seeds for oil.
Our research team ensures that oils are free off heavy metals and chemicals. They also work on spray management programs to ensure that appropriate treatments are being used on crops and that there is no damage or residue left in specialty oils.
Our vertical integration means we can control the quality as our raw materials grow. Our Field Agronomy team visit crops regularly throughout the growth cycle and are continually evolving their processes to confirm best practice. This ensures we have the best quality raw materials prior to production, producing high quality nutritional products.
