Complete Traceability and Quality Control at Every Stage of the Supply Chain

Our Supply Chain

Our capacity and continuity of supply means we can deliver what you need, when you need it. These traceability processes ensure the highest quality and authenticity of our honey.

Our purpose-built, state-of-the-art jar manufacturing, honey extraction, and production work together to create some of the world’s best honey. Our in-house laboratory allows us to test honey at every stage of production because world-leading quality is our benchmark in everything we do.

We Carefully Collect Honey From Across New Zealand

We source a variety of honey from across New Zealand. Our extensive servicing, relocating, and transporting of honey supers (honey boxes or groups of hives) are carried out by our vast fleet of specialised beekeeping trucks and helicopters. These honey supers are unloaded and stored in a warm room until extraction.

Hives are strategically placed across the country for bees to collect specific types of honey.  After collecting the pollen and nectar from local floral sources, worker bees fly back to the hive, depositing their gatherings into the honeycomb. This strong network of local beekeepers keeps our dedicated transport truck busy, driving around New Zealand to source a wide range of honey. With our large-scale capacity and network of suppliers across the country - Midlands can guarantee a continuity of supply. You will receive your honey whenever and wherever.

Extracting Our Own Honey

Midlands’ purpose-built Honey Extraction Facility was built in 2015. It was constructed to extract Midlands-produced honey, along with the ability to extract for local beekeepers. We take great care in extracting local honey, with a solid focus on high-quality production processes.

Our extracted honey meets the highest quality assurance standards. Our purpose-built extraction facility operates a HACCP-based Risk Management Programme and is a certified SQF food production facility, licensed and inspected by New Zealand's Ministry of Primary Industry (MPI).

Honey is extracted from the comb with specially designed equipment and filtered at 150 microns. The honey is then retained within our state-of-the-art packing facility, where it awaits to be distributed into jars and large-scale containers.
