Honey Extraction Room Operator

Midlands Apiaries is one of the largest South Island beekeeping businesses operating hives for honey production and seed crop pollination predominantly in the Mid Canterbury region.

Our state-of-the-art honey shed, along with our all new fleet of trucks and equipment, provides our business with the most up-to-date technology.

We are currently looking for someone to join our team to assist in our Extraction Room to cover the honey extraction this season. This role is based at our Apiaries Factory in Ashburton.

This will involve the extraction of honey from the honey boxes so tolerance to the occasional bee stings will be required.
You will also need to be physically fit as some heavy lifting is involved. The hours are varied but mainly will be 7:00am – 4:30pm, Monday to Friday, with additional hours when required depending on the workload.

What you will be doing:

  • Hands on role in promoting/improving H&S culture and ensuring compliance within the Honey Manufacturing plant.
  • Contribute to ensuring the extraction line operates efficiently for the entire shift.
  • Machine operation. Machines set up for start-up and changeover.

What you need to have to do this role:

  • Be methodical and works with a sense of urgency
  • Mechanically minded
  • Be able to help problem solving or provide solutions
  • Forklift licence or OSH certificate is preferable
  • A very high level of Health and Safety awareness and practices
  • A clear criminal record and can pass a pre-employment drug screen
  • Able to follow direction and work effectively in a team environment
  • It is important you are physically fit and can lift honey boxes
  • Have a positive work attitude
