Administration Assistant

Established in 1990, Midlands supports and encourages the production and export of arable produce to Europe and Southeast Asia.  Midlands is one of New Zealand’s major producers and marketers of hybrid vegetable seeds, pulses, grains, oilseeds and related value-added food products such as cold pressed oils and honey. Innovation is pivotal to Midlands success, which intends to lead the way in the burgeoning Food & Fibre sector.

We are currently seeking a part-time Administration Assistant who will be based with our Research & Development (R&D) team at our West Street office in Ashburton.  This is a permanent part-time role.  Days of work would be – 3 days per week (preference Tuesday, Wednesday & Friday) from 9:00am until 3:00pm some flexibility around days/hours may be required.

What the role will entail:

  • Undertake extensive secretarial and administrative support for R&D Manager.
  • Co-ordinating meetings, travel and appointments.
  • Maintain workplans and reporting schedules for research projects.
  • Compiling and distributing reports to external providers/funders/boards.
  • Supporting document preparation for Seed Import/Export and Department Licenses and QA compliance.
  • Assist in the preparation of funding applications.
  • Assist and support Project Managers as required.

  • Be competent in MS Office 365 Suite and proficient at data entry.
  • Ability to learn new computer software programs.
  • Be confident working autonomously with high level organisational skills.
  • Possess a high level of integrity when dealing with confidential matters.
  • Be comfortable working in a small team.
