About our Rātā Honey

Midlands Rata Honey is a premium native varietal with a rich, buttery flavour, available in private label, retail-ready, and bulk formats. Our integrated supply chain, independent laboratory validation, and investment in bee health research guarantee consistent, traceable, and high-quality honey for discerning consumers and international FMCG buyers.

Product Information

The Rātā Tree can be found in hidden in the pristine forests of the West Coast in the South Island of New Zealand, Aotearoa. Sporadically flowering means this precious honey is in limited quantities, as it is only expected to flower every two to three years. When in flower, the Rātā tree produces the most spectacular red nettle flower.  The irregularity of supply is offset by the belief of honey connoisseurs that it is one of the finest honeys found in the world.  This rare honey is spectacularly smooth but not sweet.  It has distinctive mild and almost salty flavour.

Our Rātā Honey can be customised for your business into different jar sizes, jar types and serving options, as well as being able to add different flavour or formulations (ie vitamins or minerals) to suit your customer or market needs.  Whether your business needs your own Private Label Brands, you want to distributor one of our market established Retail Ready Brands, PURITI, Primal By Nature or Mount Somers, or are looking for Bulk Rātā Honey as a food, cosmetic or pharmaceutical ingredient, we have a wide ranges of solutions to fit your individual business needs.
