Crop Administration & Sales Support

Midlands Seed was established in 1990, to support and encourage the production and export of arable crops from New Zealand.  Since then, the company has grown rapidly to become one of New Zealand's top producers and marketers of vegetable and herbage seeds, dried peas and oilseeds, cereal grains and finished food products. The Midlands group has also expanded into honey through Midlands Apiaries, and speciality oils through Midlands Nutrition.

We have an exciting opportunity for someone to join the team in the Crop Administration & Logistics role. This role requires someone who is able to manage a varied workload. No two days will be the same, you will be required to get on your gumboots and not be afraid of getting your hands dirty, as well as manage a variety of administration requirements and deadlines. 

The primary purpose of this role for Oilseeds and Arable Foods, is to ensure that from crop procurement, through to supply; the highest quality product is provided to our customers.  This function ensures that these customer relationships are effectively managed.

This will be completed using efficient traceability, compliance, logistics and inventory control systems.

Key responsibilities for this role:

  • Manage and oversee domestic, Import & Export Logistics
  • Ensure products are dispatched within timeframes to meet customer requirements 
  • Co-ordinate and provide administration for full traceability with regard to crop management
  • Sales support including effective customer relationship management in all aspects of operations.
  • Manage further processing of arable seeds into food grade products
  • Ensure Quality Assurance and Compliance systems comply with both internal and external standards
  • Manage and control inventory stock records 
  • Provide QA and Technical support when required
  • Dealing and negotiating with third party supplies 
  • Provide backup support and staff training to other MSL roles within the company during peak times and staff leave

Your profile:

  • Previous experience in a logistical role is preferred
  • Preference for an agricultural or farming background
  • Experience with inventory control is required
  • Intermediate computing on Excel/Word/Outlook
  • Excellent organisational, time management and problem-solving skills essential
  • Ability to work unsupervised
  • Strong interpersonal skills and developed written and verbal communication skills with the ability to liaise across the business and client base.
  • A positive and friendly 'can do' attitude with flexibility, and a desire to contribute positively to the team environment
  • High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple parallel activities is a necessity
